David Martland is a member of the firm’s Business Group. His practice is concentrated in the areas of venture capital investments, emerging companies and antitrust.
Mr. Martland represents a variety of venture capital funds in connection with their investments. He also counsels numerous emerging and early stage companies on the full range of corporate matters, including company formation, restructurings, refinancings, complex contracts, licensing matters, major joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions.
In addition, Mr. Martland provides general antitrust advice to substantial corporate and healthcare clients, including advising clients on sales and marketing, distribution arrangements, health care network formation and other issues. Mr. Martland has successfully tried several complex antitrust cases and has represented clients in antitrust government investigations, including merger and non-merger related civil and criminal investigations conducted by the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission and state attorney generals.
Mr. Martland clerked for Walter R. Mansfield, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. While at Yale Law School, Mr. Martland was Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
